Current HBYC Information
We hope you enjoy our new, improved web site and find it a very useful tool. We trust it will become something you refer to often in order to stay up with HBYC news, events and everything that is going on at the Club.
HBYC monitors VHF Channel 09 ONLY from now on: The US Coast Guard, Burlington, Vermont, has instructed Lake George marinas/base stations to stay off Channel 16. Further, the Coast Guard will no longer tolerate 'radio checks' on Channel 16 - a unique Lake George phenomenon (no other body of water has 'radio checks' like Lake George). HBYC has decided to monitor VHF Channel 09. HBYC boaters are asked to spread the word that from now on, all VHF communications between the Club and boaters will begin on Channel 09. If there happens to be a lot of traffic on 09 at the time of conversing, HBYC personnel will instruct the boater to move the discussion to another channel. 6/15/06
- Trailers left at HBYC for the summer months: Trailers left with HBYC for summer storage must have the owner's name BOLDLY DISPLAYED on the neck of the trailer. Trailer owners please note that you may borrow a paint marker from the HBYC Ships Store to put your name on your trailer. We have about 80 trailers on-site, with approximately 20 without a name. We can't possibly know who owns which trailer without your cooperation. 6/15/06
- HBYC Members: Your user-name and password for the "Members Login" section on the new web site was included with the June billing via U.S. Postal Mail. If you did not receive it, feel free to call Dan or Colleen. We will be uploading Board meeting minutes and Member information for you to be able to reference. 6/15/06
- HBYC Wireless Status: Wireless Internet access is now available throughout the marina. Boaters have reported excellent signal strength on their boats from A Dock to F Dock. This service is being provided by the Club at no additional cost to HBYC Boaters and we hope you enjoy the convenience. We have taken great care to secure the wireless access to our property and docks only. Being the good neighbors that we are, we will limit the wireless range to our Clubhouse, property and docks so that non-HBYC boaters do not set anchor in our bay and disturb the homeowners in order to tap into our wireless service. Tech II, the company that engineered the job on our site, has provided HBYC with instruction cards to assist boaters configuring their computers for wireless access at HBYC if changes to some laptop settings are needed. The cards are available in the Ships Store. 7/8/06
